Welcome To The Indianapolis Section Of The National Council Of Negro Women!
Hello and Welcome to the National Council of Negro Women (NCNW), Indianapolis Section. NCNW is a well-respected, nonprofit, community service and advocacy organization, effecting positive change for African American women and their families. We have national and international offices, a coalition of national affiliates, and 252 community-based sections to carry out our mission. NCNW program and activities demonstrate the leadership abilities of black women.
The Indianapolis Section of NCNW is heavily weighted toward community service. Our activities and programs include, but are not limited to, initiatives for community health, literacy / education, social welfare, and various awareness programs for the community at large.
The National Council of Negro Women name is indicative only of the social and political climate of its 1935 founding date. Our organization is fully committed to diversity and pluralism, and NCNW membership is open to all women regardless of race, religion, and national origin (See NCNW National Pledge). NCNW is active throughout the entire Indianapolis community. The Indianapolis Section has been consistent in developing leadership skills in its membership through a programmatic agenda. All Indianapolis Section activities are carried out through committee (See Working Committees).
