UNITED NEGRO COLLEGE FUND
This committee is responsible for the coordination of the annual breakfast that is held to benefit the UNCF. The date, usually on or near the last Saturday in December, will be scheduled to meet the broadcast arrangements of the Telethon.

JULIAN CENTER (SOJOURNER)
This committee is responsible for working with and coordinating all NCNW activities with the Sojourner Shelter. The shelter is for battered women and their children. This committee visits the shelter on a monthly basis. The chairman should keep the president and the NCNW membership informed of all activities in which they are involved in with the shelter.

MENTAL HEALTH “GIFT LIFT”
This committee seeks to receive gifts from NCNW members and friends to be given to residents of nursing homes and mental institution through the Mental Health Association. This committee will be most active during November and will inform the membership in October of acceptable items to be received at the November meeting. A gift-wrapping date will be set for December.

WELFARE
This committee is ready to give food, clothing and some cash assistance to needy persons. The members of this committee and NCNW members should alert the chairman of such: fires that destroy homes where children are involved; abuse of the elderly who have no other assistance; homeless families, etc. When in doubt, always confer with the chairman. This committee may secure funds by having garage sales, candy and bake sales or anything of this nature. The chairman should keep the President informed of such happenings and should also give the necessary information to the publicity chairman to announce. This committee should be ready to render services in cases of emergencies. At Christmas, the committee is responsible for giving ten (10) Christmas baskets to select families.
PRISON MINISTRY
This committee will work with the Indiana Women’s Prison and the Indiana Boy’s School. The committee will coordinate any and all activities at these two facilities such as a Christmas Program and gift exchange, man a booth as the Women’s Prison’s Carnival, etc.

FOUNDER’S DAY
The Founder’s Day Program is always held on the second Sunday in December. This committee is to present a program that will inspire NCNW women as it honors Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune. The program should include young and old (if possible), all members of the community, and present a program that can be announced to the public before the event is to be held. The committee should have information by the November meeting to present to the Section.

GENESIS PLAZA – HEALTH NET
This is a new committee for 2002 – 2003. It is essentially a new arm of the S – TAR (STORY TELLING AND READING) Program the Section is involved in from February through May. The NCNW members who are on the Health Net Board will coordinate our activities. They will be responsible for setting up a schedule for reading to children at the Health Center.
